It was a rainy night. After the ‘Isya prayer, I went out with my son to a small “Warung Pecel Lele” nearby, we plan to enjoy the pecel lele for dinner. My son is currently in the process of memorizing Surah Al-Zalzalah. We repeat it slowly every day, one verse at a time, sometimes in the living room, sometimes during car rides, sometimes in moments before we sleep.
As we sat down and waited for our food, my son pointed to the wall. There, hanging quietly above the kitchen counter, were exactly the same two verses he is currently memorizing.
A small silence. An unexpected moment of reflection among the cooking activity. Until the Owner is came to me, brought our ordered food. The Owner was smiled.
Sometimes, reminders don’t come from grand lectures or planned lessons.
Sometimes they appear in the most ordinary places a humble warung on a rainy night, just when the heart is ready to receive them.
Every deed, even the smallest one is seen, recorded, and never forgotten. (QS Al-Zalzalah 7–8).
May Allah keep our hearts steady, our steps sincere, and our intentions pure. Aamiin.
